Vlog 3
I felt pretty lucky in creating this podcast because as a volunteer for CFBX community radio, I have access to all their recording equipment. They have a spare production booth at House 8 with a full sound board and microphones set up for interviews, as well as the ability to record from the web to Audacity, which is great for capturing sound effects. I also have a working relationship with the station coordinator, and he was quite generous in granting me his time and knowledge for an interview. In exchange, I put in some volunteer hours down in their music library, helping to re-label the shelves.

In one hilarious misadventure, I set off the security alarm by going there after hours to work because I forgot we have the door code but not the one for the alarm. It was disconcerting, to have the siren wailing at me so unexpectedly, but was resolved fairly easily by calling the station manager (at home!), and then calling security to come and disable the alarm. I apologized profusely, but everyone was pretty chill about it, and no one even tried to make me feel bad.
I really enjoyed the process of creating my unique sound signature for my show, and I realized that I really like working with sound, but noticed how much time you can burn doing editing. In the last week leading up to the submission date, I was back and forth to the studio a lot, just grabbing whatever free time I had to complete the project. Except for one frustrating misstep, and the challenge of trying to not make the material too long, everything went pretty smoothly, and I had a lot of fun with it.
